Eid Al ADHA IN TAJIKISTAN

“Fitr Tajikans” offers an intimate glimpse into the vibrant traditions of Eid al-Fitr in the village of Ziddi, nestled in the Varzob district of Tajikistan. This documentary captures the spirit of celebration, from the meticulous cleaning and preparation of homes, painting, and washing of clothes, to the festive customs that follow. Starting with the communal Eid prayer, the film follows villagers as they visit one another’s homes, sharing hospitality and joy. Through this lens, the film beautifully portrays the importance of unity, culture, and faith within the Tajik community.

Nowruz in Tajikistan

Nowruz, the Persian New Year, is one of the most significant cultural celebrations in Tajikistan, celebrated with great enthusiasm from Badakhshan to Khatlon, and in the capital, Dushanbe. It marks the arrival of spring and is a time of renewal, with traditional music, dances, and festive meals. A central dish is "Sumanak", known as "Samano" in Farsi, made from wheat and symbolizing strength and rebirth. Tajik communities come together to clean homes, plant trees, and hold public festivities, uniting ancient traditions with modern life in a display of Tajik culture and hospitality.
